Christmas Eve 2022

We had a simple little Christmas celebration at home this year.  Here is how we kicked it off-

We began Christmas Eve morning with a snowman pancake breakfast.

I then baked our "Happy Birthday, Jesus" cake.  We always have a birthday cake on Christmas Eve.

I also made several pans of cinnamon rolls using the Pioneer Woman's recipe.

At lunchtime we went into town and ate at Pasta Nostra.

We also made a stop by Glacy for ice cream. Cruz had tiramisu.

Ben tried the eggnog flavor.

Later that afternoon we cut our cake.

That evening we attended a candlelight Christmas Eve service.

After the service everyone enjoyed tamales and a typical hot fruit punch.

We returned home to watch movies and shoot fireworks.

A poinsettia blooming in our yard.

We stayed up until midnight because in Guatemala the whole country shoots fireworks at midnight as part of their Christmas celebration.  They do it again on New Year's Eve but it is much bigger here on Christmas Eve. The boys are finally old enough to stay up with us.

Ready to watch the midnight fireworks.

Merry Christmas!

We came in and everyone took showers, mainly to get the firework smoke smell off of us.  The boys went to bed, and we set out their Christmas gifts.

Below are photos of the boys sleeping on Christmas Eve.  I started that photo tradition when they were babies.

Despite staying up so late, they still did not sleep in very late the next morning.  I'll share about our Christmas Day next.
