Life Lately January 2024

Here are some random photos from January 2024 of our family life.

We spent the first week of January on a work trip in Mexico.

Just a few days after returning, we began the second semester of the school year.

I made this football cake for us to eat while we watched the college football championship game.

Cruz enjoyed a sleepover with friends in Guatemala City.

Mid-month we hosted two IMB missionaries who do theological education and training.

They came to meet with some of our Guatemala Baptist Seminary leaders.

They spent most of their time in Guatemala City but were able to squeeze in a quick visit to Antigua. Here we all are enjoying lunch at Pappy's BBQ.

We made a trip to Quetzaltenango to see our IMB teammates.  While there we had a baby shower for the newest member of our Guatemala mission family who was born on January 3. We also had our first team meeting of the year where we made plans and set ministry goals for the quarter.  Here is a view along the way.

We do love coffee!!

Baby Shower in Parramos

In March we attended a surprise baby shower for the pastor's wife in Parramos.  It took place during the weekly Saturday women's Bible study.  She was quite surprised when she walked in to see everyone there to celebrate her.  It was a special day!

She is the one seated in red.

They played several games which were quite entertaining. David and Pastor Juan had to compete in one of them.  They gave everyone a good laugh.

In this game we had to tear off a piece of toilet paper in the size that we thought would fit around her stomach.  We then took turns measuring our pieces on her.

I didn't win but I sure made her laugh.

She is a sweet young lady.

She gave birth to a precious little boy just last week.  Both baby and mom are doing well.

Independence Day 2015

Here is a look at how we celebrated the 4th of July this year.

I hung a few decorations in our dining room.

Our American themed breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, biscuits, and bacon.

After breakfast we got dressed and took family photos.  I had ordered some Old Navy flag t-shirts back in May for my mom to bring down to us but the men's shirts were all on back order at the time.  They could not guarantee me a delivery date before she came so sadly David did not get a shirt.  He didn't mind though.  It only bothered me, ha.

I like this comparison photo of Ben.  It's the same flag, same wagon, and same sweet boy.

Our lunch consisted of grilled hamburgers and French fries.  This is our fireworks cake I made for our dessert.  It's red velvet with cream cheese icing.  I got the icing idea from HERE.

We spent most of our day laying around on the couch watching movies.  Ben has not been feeling well so that kept us from going swimming or doing anything outdoors.  We played a few board games, sang a few patriotic songs, and did some flag coloring sheets as well.

For supper we called in a pizza and cheesy bread from Domino's.  That's pretty American, right?
As you can see Cruz was very excited about that idea.

Afterwards they enjoyed some blue star shaped jello- jigglers.

We went for a night walk around our neighborhood.  That is one of our favorite things to do.

We also shot a few fireworks.

We ended the day by playing some Atari video games.  The boys always love it when we hook it up and play.

You can tell by that sweet smile how much fun they were having.

It was a pretty fun day and what I enjoyed most about it was just being with my little family.

David led Bible study in the village of Nearar on Sunday morning and then we ended the weekend by watching the Women's World Cup.  I cooked BBQ chicken, potato salad, and black beans for our supper.  Go Team USA!!!

We have four Bible studies coming up this week and would appreciate your praying for each of them.  We'll be in Tunuco Arriba on Wednesday, Muyurco on Thursday, Lagunetas on Saturday, and Nearar on Sunday. We have a busy week ahead but what a blessing it is to be able to share God's Word!

Hope you have a wonderful week!
