My Birthday February 2026

On February 25 I celebrated my birthday. Here's a look at how I spent the day.

the kitchen decorations

This blue plate is very special to me.  We use it for all special occasions.

We had chocolate chip banana pancakes for breakfast.

We spent the morning doing school.  Then, we went out for lunch at Hector's Bistro.  I did not plan to eat out for lunch because I had plans to eat out that evening.  The boys insisted on taking me there because they would not be with us that evening. We all love Hectors!

We returned home from lunch and had cake. It was strawberry with vanilla icing.

Happy Birthday to me!

I then opened gifts.  While in the States last fall, I developed an obsession with plain M&M's. I was happy to get some for my birthday.

I also got a larger stock pot for boiling homemade pasta noodles.

Next, I headed out to have afternoon coffee with my friend Betsy.

I loved my cup- Always coffee time! I do agree.

We carpool to youth group on Wednesday nights.  It was our week to drive, and I was happy about that.  It meant we could drop the kids off and then head into the city to eat at TGI Friday's.  Since we arrived in Guatemala back in 2006, Friday's has always been my favorite place.  It holds so many memories of visits over the years,  and I was overjoyed to get to eat there for my birthday this year.

I most always order the chicken finger BLT sandwich with onion rings.  You can order from the lunch menu at night so that includes your drink, coffee, and ice cream.  It's a great deal!

Their cookie ice cream is the best!

It was a great birthday, and I am looking forward to all that lies ahead in this new year. I'm praying that it's a good one.

Celebrating Our 29th Wedding Anniversary

On April 27th we celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary.  We celebrated in Guatemala City this year.

The boys thought it would be a great idea to visit a trampoline park on Saturday (the day before our anniversary).  I wonder if they were thinking of us or themselves. lol  Regardless, we all had a fantastic time!  We went to Air Square at Oakland Place and jumped for 1.5 hours.

That evening we ate supper at TGI Friday's.  It has always been my favorite place to eat in Guatemala.

We began our anniversary morning with a pancake and bacon breakfast.  I added the number "29" to ours.

off to conquer the world together

We were excited to get to attend worship at Union Church.  It has been a while since we were able to visit there.  For many years, when we lived out, we would always try to attend one of their services if we were in the city on a Sunday.  It was always very refreshing for us to worship there.  It is a sentimental place to us and getting to be there on our anniversary was special.

If you are in Guatemala City on a Sunday and need a place to worship, look up Union Church.  It is located at 12 Calle 7-37 Zona 9, Plaza España.  They have an 8:15 contemporary service and an 11:00 traditional service.

We enjoyed a delicious anniversary lunch in the city before returning home to Antigua.

Once home, I headed out for an afternoon walk around town, and David took Cruz for a practice driving lesson.  Life is busy when you still have kids at home, but we have always enjoyed celebrating our anniversary with the boys.  We had fourteen years of anniversary celebrations before they were born, and in just five short years we'll be back to celebrating alone.  I'll always treasure these times we have had together!

Life Lately October 2024

I am a little late posting these random photos from October.

Cruz had twice weekly play rehearsals in San Cristobal.  During one of those rehearsals, Ben and I enjoyed a fun night out together while we waited to pick Cruz up.  We visited a local mall. Here he is enjoying ice cream.

He also got to play some arcade games.

We enjoyed Pizza Hut pizza for supper.  It is a family favorite!

Another family favorite is horchata at Pizza Hut. YUM!

I took Ben and his friend Joshua on an evening outing to El Bosque.  It is one of our most favorite places in town.

We enjoyed pizza for supper.

The boys played for several hours and had a blast.

I sat by the fire pit and had a blast myself.

We came home and they played video games.

On another day I had a coffee date with Cruz at Starbucks.

David traveled to Lima for a team leader training meeting. Here he is giving an update on our Team Guatemala.

Cruz performed in Little Women.

Later, both boys auditioned for the Spring performance of Romeo & Juliet.  They were both cast in the play.

We celebrated eighteen years of service with the IMB.

We said "see you later" to the Robertson family.  Their term ended and they headed to the States for several months.

We had full load of school.  Here is Cruz during a Science lesson.

We did several fun experiments.
