Language Tests, Vaccine's, and a Passport for Cruz

Last Wednesday we spent the whole day in Guatemala City doing errands.  Our first appointment of the day was with Mrs. Helen to take our oral language evaluations.  We are happy to say that we both passed and will be finishing our language study this Friday!  Yippee!

Our next stop was to the pediatricians office for Cruz to get another vaccine.

He does very well with his shots (so far).

I am glad to have David there with me to help keep him calm because I can barely watch.  It hurts my heart for him to get his shots.

We later went to the U.S. Embassy to pick up Cruz's passport and birth certificate

and just like everything else these days, it went right to his mouth 

We then stocked up on groceries and bought a Pizza Hut pizza to take home for dinner.  It was a long/ full day but we got a lot accomplished.  Being in the City can be exhausting and we are always glad to get back home.  The traffic is terrible, the lines are long, and it takes forever to get things done.  But, with a little patience, it can be an enjoyable experience.

This is Cruz's pacifier these days.  He only likes the Soothie brand.  They are rubber and if he drops it they bounce across the room.  We only have 3 so we have to keep up with them!  We received several cute clips for pacifier's at our showers but this particular pacifier doesn't have a slot to attach them, only two small holes.  I didn't want to cut a hole in it so David came up with the idea of putting a rubber band on it- temporarily.  It works for now! ha

we recently enjoyed a yummy popcorn chicken meal and a biscuit from KFC in Guatemala City.  It was just like being back home!

I LOVE seeing Cruz's clothes hanging between ours on the clothes line.

Saturday night we were invited to the Miller's house for a chicken 'n dumplings dinner.  It was a cool, rainy day here so that was a perfect meal to eat.  Glynis is a fantastic cook and we always enjoy eating with them.

We enjoyed our meal and then sat around talking and drinking coffee.  It was a fun way to spend our Saturday night.

Sunday

Here are a few photos of Cruz before we left for church on Sunday morning.

We attended services at a mission church in San Felipe.  It is right outside of Antigua.

On the way there we encountered this processional.  We don't know what was the occasion, but there we many people participating. 

 I fed Cruz just before we left and he fell asleep on the way there.  Shortly after arriving he woke up and stayed awake for the rest of the service.  He sat in his infant carrier for a while and then I held him the rest of the time.  He never fussed and was very good.  He enjoyed the music and even smiled some during a few of the songs.  Sometime during the service he pooped and it leaked out of his diaper- ugh, I hate when that happens.  We are learning the hard way that if he poops, he must be changed immediately or it will be a mess!  I had to take him out and change him and put him in his plan b outfit which wasn't near as cute as what he originally wore. 

After the service he let everyone pass him around and love on him.  I didn't get to take any photos of that because after changing him I left the diaper bag in the car because I knew we'd be leaving soon.  Not long after leaving he was sound asleep, which was good considering we had planned to go out for lunch.

We went to one of our favorite places for brick oven pizza.  It was yummy!

It was also sunny for the moment which allowed us to enjoy sitting outside.  (The sun didn't last for long and shortly after we returned home the clouds rolled in bringing the cold and rain.  By mid-afternoon we had a fire built in our apartment.  We are looking forward to some warm, sunny days)

We stopped by a local bread store for some sweet bread before heading home.  We enjoyed it with an afternoon cup of coffee.  We spent the rest of the day relaxing and playing with the baby.

Cruz turned 12 weeks old yesterday!

Has he really only been with us 84 days?

Although the time is flying by it seems like we've had him forever. People said you would not be able to imagine life without him and that is so true. As much as we enjoyed our life before him we CAN.NOT.IMAGINE. him not being a part of our lives. He has brought so much joy to us. He's made our lives complete. He fills our days with laughter and our hearts with love. He is the greatest blessing we've ever received, AND he's only been with us 84 days. :-)   Can't imagine life getting any better, but we know that as we watch him grow- it will.
