My Mom's Visit January 2019

Last week we were blessed with a week-long visit from my mom.  The time passed by way too fast but we had a lot of fun.  We squeezed as much as we could into the week and I think she had a great time.  Here is a look at her visit-

Traveling from the airport to our house in Antigua.  The boys were so excited that she had arrived.  It was really nice to pick her up and be back at our home in about an hour.  No more long road trips.  Hooray!

We spent our mornings doing school.  It was wonderful having extra hands to help out and extra ears to listen to reading.  Here they are doing an art project with modeling clay.  Once we finished school each day we would head out for fun activities around town.

We toured the Museo de Capuchinas.

We visited the cross above Antigua.  Cruz talked my mom into hiking up with him.  If you have ever done that then you know it is a little difficult.  My poor mom made it but I do not think she would do it again. lol   Next time she will just ride up with me in the car.

We visited La Azotea in Jocotenango and toured their coffee farm and music museum.

We enjoyed a lunch meal at Ta'Cool.  Their shrimp tacos are my favorite!

We toured the jade shop.

After dropping Cruz off at one of his P.E. lessons we drove over to Finca Filadelfia for afternoon coffee and dessert.  It was one of my highlights of the week.

Enjoying the sunset view from the roof of San Martin.

On Thursday we got pedicures and then enjoyed lunch at Dona Luisa.

Afternoon shopping at the market.  I think we made five trips to the market during the week.  She did a lot of shopping.

Another visit to Finca Filadelfia.  She loved it just as much as I do.

We had such a great time together.  I am so glad she was able to come and hang out with us for the week.  We look forward to the day that she gets to come back.

Mimi's Visit Part 2

My mom has returned to the States and we are all missing her company.  We had a wonderful visit with her and really enjoyed having her here with us.  The boys especially loved the extra love and attention they received all week!  Here are some more photos of her time with us here in Guatemala.

The first part of her visit was getting things ready for Cruz's birthday.  I enjoyed having her here to help me make his day extra special.  Here we are on Cruz's birthday afternoon.

She loved the hotel that is next door to us.  We spent several afternoons in that pool trying to keep cool.

Here she is enjoying a typical Guatemalan breakfast at the hotel restaurant next door.  She had eggs, black beans, fried plantains, and lots of Guatemalan coffee.

We spent a lot of time taking walks around our neighborhood.  Here she is with Ben on one of those walks.

She rented this go-cart for Cruz to ride on his birthday.  We all had a blast on that thing!

One afternoon while David watched the boys napping I took my mom and Teresa into town to do a little shopping and have a little girl time.  It was a favorite outing of mine.  Living in a house with all boys is fun but there is nothing like some time with the girls.  Here we are at the mall food court enjoying a caramel frappe and a frozen orangeade.

We took them bowling one afternoon and we all had a blast.  We laughed until we cried.  It was a fun memory!

On her last evening here we took her to eat at Nais in Guatemala City.  It is a favorite place of ours and she loved it too.   She also loved the frozen orange drinks they serve there.  They are delicious!

Every spare minute we had throughout her visit we played Phase 10.  She had never played before so I taught her and now she is hooked.  Here we are playing before bedtime on her last night here.  I am definitely missing these moments the most!  Cards, coffee, and laughter are a great combination!

I am thankful that she was able to come for a visit.  We enjoyed having her and we look forward to the day that she can come again.
