June 2022 Newsletter

Church
During the month of May, we focused much of our attention on the Baptist churches in Parramos and San Andres Itzapa.  We rotate Sunday evening services between these two congregations.

Mid-May we began participating in a twelve week outreach program that Parramos is doing.  They had a community wide kickoff and then began twelve weeks of Saturday afternoon Bible studies for women and children.  This includes music, Bible study, snack, and games.  The women are learning to crochet. We do a little each week after Bible study time is over.  It has been a fun time of fellowship and growth together.  Pray for this weekly outreach time.  There are nine more weeks left to go.

We also participated in two special services at San Andres Itzapa.  One was a baby dedication service that David preached at.  His sermon focused on raising children to know the Lord and the importance of teaching them the Word of God in our homes.  Another Sunday, we attended a 40th anniversary service for the pastor and his wife.  We were excited to be able to be a small part of both.

On the left is Pastor Apolinario and his wife.  He leads the Baptist church in San Andres Itzapa.  On the right is David and the boys with Pastor Juan.  He leads the Baptist church in Parramos.

Pray for both of these pastors and the work they are doing to reach their communities for Christ.  Pray for us as we encourage them and work alongside them in ministry.

Celebrating
We did a little celebrating of our own this past month.  We finished our school year and Cruz turned 12 years old.  We are looking forward to our summer break and being able to do more ministry together as a family.

Farewell
We had a farewell gathering with our IMB Guatemala mission family to celebrate the Brown's upcoming retirement.  Earlier this week they returned to the States after serving twenty years on the mission field. Pray for them as they transition to life in the U.S. and look for ways that God can continue to use them in ministry there.
Mission Family
We ended the month hosting the Conners and Stamps for a few days.  They are our IMB leadership who serve in Mexico.  We are thankful for these and others who are there for support and guidance.  The IMB does a wonderful job of making sure their missionaries are healthy in all aspects of life.  Encouragement visits like this one help keep us focused and going.

After a full week of orientation and training, our two Summer Sojourner students will arrive tomorrow, June 3!!  We look forward to a fun-filled summer ahead serving together.  Pray for them as they fly tomorrow, begin to get adjusted to life here in Guatemala, study a little Spanish, and use their gifts and talents to share the gospel with those around.
Next week the boys will be attending an MK summer camp. It is called Camp Guamiski.  The name stands for Gua- Guatemala, mis- missionary, ki- kids. This is a long standing summer tradition for missionary kids in Guatemala and we are happy that our boys are finally old enough to participate.

Pray for all the campers and leaders next week.  Katelyn and Emily will be there too serving as counselors. Pray for a great time of fellowship, good health and safety, and spiritual growth for the kids.
Lastly, we will be hosting a volunteer mid-month and David will be taking him to our Chiquimula work area to show him around.  Pray for a safe, productive trip for them as they go and encourage the believers there.
We thank you for your continued encouragement and prayers for our family and ministry.  It is an honor to represent you here on the mission field.  Thank you for your gifts that allow us to go.  Thank you for your prayers that help keep us here.  We could not do it without you!!
