Life Lately May 2022

May was a fun-filled month.  Here are some random photos of our life lately.

We had a great time celebrating Mother's Day

On that same Sunday afternoon we attended a special outreach activity at the Baptist church in Parramos.   They had around 100 kids and their families in attendance. It was a kicked off for an upcoming twelve week Saturday afternoon Bible study for women and kids.

David and the boys with Pastor Juan.

The following Saturday started the weekly study.  Both boys invited a friend to attend with them.

After the ladies Bible study time we are learning to crochet.  We work a little on our project each week. It has been a fun time of fellowship for me with the ladies.

Mid-month we made a visit to Panajachel with our IMB mission family to celebrate the upcoming retirement of the Browns.  Here we are about to enjoy pizza together at Circus Bar restaurant.  It is a mission tradition.

good food and wonderful fellowship

We took a boat ride across Lake Atitlan to visit the town of Santiago.

The Browns receiving their retirement plaque for twenty years of missionary service.

I made a chocolate chip cookie cake for us to enjoy for dessert.

The boys attended a birthday party for their sweet friend Ethan.

We finished up our school year with a fun last day of school celebration.

The following morning we had a program at Encounter Academy.  It included a piano recital, graduation ceremony, a meal, and a fun time of water play for the kids.

On another day, we got together with a few other families and went swimming at a local pool.

David preached a special baby dedication service at the Baptist church in San Andres Itzapa.

We had a meal afterwards.

Cruz turned 12! We had a big birthday celebration for him.

We have been enjoying our fire pit. These cool nights around here are perfect for a fire.

I have enjoyed baking.  I made this cheery cheese coffee cake.  It is an old Pampered Chef favorite of ours.

One of our favorite cakes is this blueberry sour cream coffee cake.  I made it one Wednesday to share with my mom's group.   We had our last weekly gathering for the semester and will break for the summer.  I will miss our weekly fellowship but will look forward to meeting again with them in the fall.

I also baked this coconut custard pie.  It is another favorite of ours.

Enjoying an afternoon coffee break at San Martin in Antigua.

We loved the candle art they had on display.

Cruz loves eating street corn.

We visited the new Starbucks that recently opened in town.  The building is beautiful!!

Enjoying a Friday night outing with friends.

A beautiful sunset view from town.

Ben counting down the days until our summer volunteer students arrive.

Lastly, we ended the month with a visit from the Conners and Stamps.  They are our IMB leadership who serve in Mexico.   The Stamps previously served many years in Guatemala and lived in our Antigua home for 10 years.  It was a fun homecoming for them.

While here, we all attended a Sunday morning service honoring the 40 year anniversary of Pastor Apolinario and his wife.  They serve the Baptist church in San Andres Itzapa.

How is it June already?  This year is flying by.  Our students arrive on Friday and we anticipate a busy summer ahead with them.  It should be a lot of fun!!

  1. Hi I had the pleasure of teaching missions in our vbs this week. We learned about your family. Our kids collected art supplies and decorated some bags to send to you. There were excited about your calling to serve our Lord. Where should I send the supplies?
