My birthday is February 25. This year I turned 50! We began the celebration on my birthday eve because we had plans to travel on my original day.
Cruz and David spent some time decorating our dining room with balloons
and streamers. When they were done, they invited me in to see. You cannot tell it from this picture but black balloons were everywhere.
Next, Cruz decorated my cake.

We had pizza delivered for supper.
I woke up on my birthday morning and found gifts waiting for me on the table. I love getting homemade cards on special occasions!
They got me this beautiful jade ring.
I love Disney and two of my favorite things there are Mickey waffles and Dole whip. David had ordered and brought back these wax melts to give me on my birthday. Oh, how fun!! I really wished that I could have been at Magic Kingdom on my birthday to take a photo in front of the castle with the "50" on it. That would have been amazing! But, when you can't be there in person, at least your house can have that magical smell.
I then drove into town to visit a local spa. My mom always sends money for my birthday and I most always get a manicure and pedicure with it. It was a very relaxing morning there getting pampered. Thanks Mom!!
We went out to lunch at Pappy's BBQ.
So yummy!!!
We then loaded the car and set out for the drive to Panajachel. We would be attending the annual Intermissions Conference that weekend. It always falls either on my birthday or around it. It gives me a great excuse to spend it at the lake.
We always stop at the mirador (lookout) to take photos.
Lake Atitlan
We checked in to our hotel room and began to soak up the views. All rooms have balconies that overlook the lake. It is very peaceful there.
I had this dessert waiting for me in the room. Cheesecake is one of my favorites. A dear friend had this delivery arranged.
We had a little time between check-in and supper so we spent the afternoon poolside visiting with friends while our kids all swam. I love that I got to spend my birthday surrounded by missionary friends, many of whom I had not seen in quite a while.
During supper the Lubecks serenaded me with a beautiful song. It was a sweet gift that blessed my heart.
I ended the day in a worship service singing songs of praise and being reminded of the precious promises of God in scripture. What a wonderful ending to a fabulous birthday!
So far, so good!
