Here is a glimpse of our school life during the month of February.
We begin our days saying the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag, Christian flag, and the Bible. We then rotate weekly singing America the Beautiful, the Star-Spangled Banner, or My Country, 'Tis of Thee. Next is Bible songs and hymns. During February they learned Blessed Assurance, Sweet Hour of Prayer, and Fairest Lord Jesus.
For our missionary study we learned about the life and ministry of Mary Slessor.
Cruz practicing spelling words.
Cruz reading a story from his BJU reading textbook.
A happy moment in our school week.
He is doing the Zeta level of Math U See this year and his focus is on decimals and percents.
Ben doing a word search puzzle with Science vocabulary.
During February our Science topics were climate, weather, and weather forecasting.
We did our annual Valentine's Day Bible verse countdown. We have done this for many years now. I got the idea and resources from a favorite website called Not Consumed. (This is the same website that I got our missionary study curriculum from.) Each evening I would hide one of the hearts and the boys would hunt for it the next morning. Whoever found it would look up and read the scripture verse for the day. We added the hearts to our refrigerator each day and kept them there throughout the whole month. It was a great visual reminder of the ways God loves us.
A highlight of the month was a field trip they took with Encounter Academy to Hobbitenango.
There are several fun activities to enjoy there like archery. I did not go with them but a sweet friend sent me photos. David and I enjoyed a day to ourselves in Guatemala City running errands and having a lunch date.
Cruz did the swing.
The boys with a few of their friends from Encounter.
They had a fun-filled day and I am so thankful that they have access to activities such as this. It is a wonderful complement to our school routine.
Twenty-six weeks down, only ten left to go!!! I am definitely getting summer break fever.
