Our last week in the States was a whirlwind. The boys and I would do school in the mornings and then we would spend the afternoons and evenings packing and getting ready to leave. We had to sort through everything we had to determine what was flying back with us, what was going into storage, what was given away, and what was thrown away. It is a much harder process than it seems! We said our last goodbyes to family and friends and returned to Guatemala on Saturday, January 8. I will post about that day next but first here are a few photos from our last week in the U.S.
We bought a pack of vacuum seal bags and used them for several items. The boys enjoyed getting to suck the air out. They thought it was fun. We have never used these in the past and I am not sure why. We will definitely be buying more in the future.
We had supper with the Johnson family one evening.

We visited the cemetery where David's mom and grandmother are buried. Being home without them was hard. There was definitely a void without their presence.
On our last day in the States we attended the afternoon funeral of my dad's sister, Nancy. She had passed away on New Year's Day. It was an opportunity to see family one last time but most definitely on a sad occasion.
On our way home from the funeral we made one last stop to see my mom. Goodbyes are hard and they do not seem to get easier as the years pass.
We had our last supper meal at Zaxby's. It was Cruz's choice. We then headed home to finalize all of our bags and try to get some sleep. We had the alarm set for 1:45 a.m. to get up and get to the airport. We were so tired!!! (We still are).
