We woke up in Cody, Wyoming and got on the road early.
We enjoyed passing through a few tunnels on our way back into Yellowstone National Park.
Our first stop was at West Thumb Geyser Basin.
The pools there were the most beautiful color of blue!
We made a stop by the Grant Visitor Center to find a park ranger and get Jr. Ranger books for the boys.
Just like on our last national park trip, we got Jr. Ranger books and badges/pins at all three parks we visited this trip. The boys love that!! They now have six each in their collection.
Next, we stopped by Lewis Falls. It is beautiful!
Midday, we entered Grand Teton National Park. We stopped for a picnic lunch beside the lake.
Can you spot the boys? We ate lunch and then spent a little time exploring and taking in the breathtaking views.
Grand Teton National Park
We then drove to the Jenny Lake Visitor Center. Isn't this a beautiful view?!
There are several hikes across the lake. You can hike around it to get to them or take a boat ride across. We chose the boat ride.
We love a scenic boat ride!
We started our hike to Hidden Falls.
Once we arrived we spent some time playing in the water.
If you look really close you can see Ben's orange cap as he climbed the rocks.
While we were playing the clouds rolled in and it began to drizzle.
Soon afterwards came a heavy downpour. We did not have jackets, ponchos, or umbrellas with us. Needless to say, we got soaked!!! We attempted to continue our hike in the rain and try to reach Inspiration Point but we ended up turning around before we got there. It was just too cold and we were too wet. We hiked back down and waited our turn to ride the boat back across the lake.
We headed to Jackson, Wyoming where we enjoyed supper at Liberty Burger. Afterwards, we drove on to Irwin, Idaho where we stopped for the night. In spite of it turning out wet and cold, we still had a pretty amazing day!
Next up, Grand Teton round 2 and one last visit to Yellowstone to see Old Faithful. I'll share about that day next.
