November 2017 Newsletter

What we will remember most about October was all of the wonderful speaking engagements we were able to do.  We have had a full month of traveling and sharing our stories.  We spoke 13 times in 9 different churches.  It has been a great opportunity to promote missions and build prayer support for our work in Guatemala.  We could not do our work without the support of our Southern Baptist churches and we are happy to share and report to them how their funds are being used around the world.

The month of October marked our 11th year of service with the IMB.  We thank you for the way you have loved, supported, and encouraged us over the years.  We are honored to represent Southern Baptists on the mission field and look forward to many more years of working together to see the nations come to know Christ.

When we were not speaking or home doing school our time was filled visiting a few fun places like the Mississippi State Fair, a pumpkin patch, a farm, a fall carnival, and a trunk or treat.  We have also enjoyed many meals with family and friends.  Fall is our favorite time of the year and we are so thankful to be home to enjoy it this year.

We were excited to get an update on the construction of the church building in Nearar.  It is looking great!  They have plans to finish up this month and will be having a dedication service on the 25 & 26th.  Pray that the service goes well and that many in the community will come out to support it.  Pray for the leaders as they plan and make preparations to host everyone.  We are sad to not be there to participate, but we rejoice that it is taking place in our absence.  The work is not about us and it thrills us to see the locals taking ownership and leading out on their own.  We will be looking forward to joining them for regular worship services in the new building in 2018.

We have a few speaking engagements lined up for the month of November.   Pray for us as we continue to share with the churches.

We are also looking forward to a fun family vacation we have planned this month.

We are excited to celebrate Thanksgiving with our families this year.  We have only been home for Thanksgiving two times in the past 11 years. As you gather to celebrate this year remember to pray for the missionaries around the world who will not be home for the holidays.  It can be a sad and lonely time for many.

We will end the month attending a homeschool conference in Virginia hosted by the IMB.  We look forward to gathering with other missionary homeschool families for training, testing, and fellowship. We anticipate a wonderful week together.
