FBC Mt Pleasant, SC January 2019 Team

Last week we hosted our first team of the year.  It was a small group from First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, SC. David picked them up at the airport and they made the four hour drive to Chiquimula.  Because of school, the boys and I stayed home.  It was a very hard decision for me, and my heart was sad all week not to be out with the team.  It was David's first time to go back and visit since our move.  That made it harder for me also because I have been missing our people very much.  The team had a great week there and got to make a lot of visits.  For the most part everyone is doing well and the work is continuing on as we had hoped that it would.

Here are a few photos from the week.

Making a home visit in La Libertad.  It was their youngest daughters 8 year old birthday.  The team was able to sing to her and share a children's Bible with her.

we love this family in Churischan

A home visit in Las Muñecas.  The team enjoyed a mini concert from these two guys while there.

They spent a morning with the Lubecks hearing their testimonies and all about the work they are currently doing.  It is always a blessing to be with the Lubecks!

They attended the Tuesday night service at Bro. Fito's church and got to see a baby dedication.

sweet kids at a home visit in Nearar

Two of my favorites in Nearar.  The little boy was born just before we moved and I have yet to meet him in person.  On this day they had him wrapped in one of our old baby blankets and he was wearing a pair of our old shoes.  It made me smile to see this picture.

David M. sharing at the Wednesday Bible study in Nearar with Miguel translating.

Oh, how I miss these girls!  This is at the church in Nearar.

They made several other visits as well throughout the week and got to pray with a lot of people. One of those visits was with Bro. Elias.  He is not doing well and we do not expect him to live much longer.  Please keep him and his family in your prayers.

The team returned to Antigua on Thursday and we got to meet them for lunch at Wendy's.  After resting at the hotel a while they spent the rest of the afternoon and evening at our house for supper and fellowship.  As you can see they immediately fell in love with David M.   They enjoyed a lot of playtime with him which included many sword fights and a little sidewalk chalk face painting.

Here we are having breakfast at Cafe Condesa on Friday morning.

Next, we visited the cross overlooking Antigua.

We toured the coffee farm and music museum at Finca La Azotea in Jocotenango.

One of my boys favorite things to do is turn the coffee beans there.

We spent the afternoon at the local market buying souvenirs and then drove up the hill to Santo Domingo Del Cerro.  We stopped along the way to take a team photo.

We walked through the museums and then enjoyed a nice supper meal at El Tenedor Del Cerro.  The sunset views were so beautiful from there.  We were back at our house for team time/ devotion that evening.

After breakfast on Saturday morning and spent some time walking around town enjoying the sites.  They toured a jade shop and cathedral before driving them to Guatemala City to catch their return flight.

We have missed them since they left but are so thankful that they came.  Their church loves the Chorti people and they keep coming many times a year to help evangelize and disciple them.  We are thankful for their partnership and investment in the work here.
