The new year is off to a great start. In
January we hosted our first volunteer team for 2019. It was a group
from First Baptist Mount Pleasant, SC. They spent the week in the
Chiquimula area making home visits and sharing in a few Bible studies.
It was the first time for us to return to the area since our move. It
was good to see that the work there is continuing on each week in our
absence. Continue to pray for our contacts there that God would bless
their efforts in reaching the lost in their communities. Pray
specifically for the church in Nearar that God would strengthen them and
grow them in the days ahead.

We recently finished up a
visit from my mom. It was nice having her here for several days and
getting to show her around our new area. The boys especially enjoyed
the extra love and attention she showed to them during her stay.
We are busy with homeschool these days. It
takes up most of my time and energy. An advantage to living here in
Antigua is the wide variety of extra curricular activities that are
offered for kids. The boys each got to choose an activity to participate
in and so far they are loving it. Cruz is doing a P.E. class two
afternoons a week and Ben is taking soccer lessons two afternoons a
week. Both of their classes are in Spanish so it is also working as
language practice.
In addition to P.E. Cruz is also continuing his
keyboarding lessons. These activities are opening many doors for us to
meet new people. Pray for us as we form relationships and get to know
those God places in our paths.
David will be attending a community
development training this week led by our Baptist Global Response team
here in Guatemala. They will be sharing ideas of ways to enter new
communities by meeting human needs which in turn will open doors to
share the gospel.
Next week we will be hosting a couple from a partner church in South
Carolina. They have been on numerous teams in the past but want to come
just to hang out and experience life with us apart from a team. We plan
to show them around Guatemala and introduce them to some new areas for
possible future ministry.
At the end of the month we plan to attend a missions conference for all
full time English speaking evangelical missionaries serving in
Guatemala. It is always a refreshing time of worship and networking
that we look forward to each year.
We thank you for praying for us and especially during this time of
transition and readjusting. There are days when we love being here and
other days when we really miss the people and work we left behind. Pray
for us as we continue to find our groove here and make contacts
for future ministry and teams.
