Antigua Flower Festival 2023

One of my favorite weekends of the year here in Antigua is the third weekend in November.  It is the weekend of the annual Flower Festival.  Our town is beautiful all year long, but during this particular weekend it gets all dressed up in flowers and is on full display.  This was the 7th year to have the festival.  It has grown each year in attendance, but this year was an overwhelming record crowd.  I do not think anyone anticipated the huge number of people that showed up.

I went in on Saturday morning to walk around and take some photos.  I had plans to return that evening to see everything at night but ended up staying home.  It was just too crowded!  As you can imagine, I took many pictures while I was out.  I will share a few highlights here and then a YouTube video at the end of the post highlighting more.  The pictures do not do it justice.  It really is an incredible sight to see in person!

This is a quetzal, which is the national bird of Guatemala.

Little Caesar's Pizza is very popular here in Guatemala.

How beautiful is this?!

Chicken buses are always colorful but even more so when decorated in flowers.

This is an outline of the map of Guatemala showing the different departments.  We have lived in four of those departments over the years.

Here is a video from the festival.
