I mentioned in my last post that there was a protest going on that
blocked the road between Chiquimula and Jocotan. Because of that we
could not get to the school for English classes.
We ended up taking a
day trip to the Ipala Volcano. It is not an active volcano but is an interesting place because it has a crater lake that you can swim in. We had a fun time there! Here is a look at our day-
As if we had not already had enough setback for the day, we had a flat tire on the way to the volcano.
It ended up being a good teachable moment for Cruz as he helped his daddy change it out.
The road that leads up to the volcano is a little rocky at times.
Welcome!
The view of the crater lake as you walk in.
Bella, Karsyn, and Melanie
They wasted no time changing clothes and getting in the water.
Trey clowning around.
The water was a little chilly.
If you look close you will see Trey's head sticking out of the water. He swam out pretty far.
A day of fun in the sun.
We enjoyed a picnic lunch.
Isaac and Cruz
me and Ben
They enjoyed feeding Chiky cookies to the fish by hand.
Isaac and Cruz tried hard to catch a fish in their hands but never could.
We hiked up the trail to the lookout.

We 💗 these students!!!
Playing on the pier before we left.
Here is a video from our day.
We were really hoping the road was going to clear up and we could get to the school the following day. That did not happen. Next I'll post about our second "Plan B" day.
