After our day trip to the Ipala Volcano everyone enjoyed an outdoor movie night at the hotel in Chiquimula.
The next day we were still blocked from getting to Jocotan so we ended up driving to Zacapa to visit a few pastors. In spite of our disappointment of not being able to be at the school, we could see God using us in a big way. David had called the pastor to let him know we were coming to visit him. Just minutes before he had been reading an article about the importance of praying for your pastor. He wanted to send it out to his church members but decided not to. Then, David called and said we were coming by to pray for him. Only God could have orchestrated that timing! We had a wonderful encouraging visit with him. He was really down and in need of some encouragement. I feel like our visit was just what he needed to keep him going. We left there excited about seeing God's hand at work.
Look at that smile on the pastor's face.
We all need encouragement. God has definitely given us a passion to encourage the pastors here.
We stopped at another church we used to work with when we lived in the area. They have a new pastor who has only been there a few months. He was struggling to get adjusted to the area and people. We shared scriptures with him and prayed for him. It was another encouraging visit.

That evening we invited a local group of youth to Domino's for a pizza fellowship. We had a great turnout!!
Afterwards we walked across the street to the local park for a time of sharing and games.

Had the road to Jocotan been opened, none of this would have happened. Sometimes we get discouraged when things do not go as planned, but we have to remember that God is at work. His plans are greater than ours.
