March 2023 Newsletter

Learning
We began the month in Lima, Peru attending a leadership meeting.  Thank you for praying for our trip and for our boys who were back home.

We had a lot of information poured into us over a few days time.  We learned a great deal about our new role, and got to spend time with others who are in the same position throughout the Americas.

We returned home feeling much more confident and prepared.  Continue to pray for us as we transition into this new assignment.  Pray for wisdom, grace, and understanding in the days ahead.

Kekchi Annual Meeting
Just a few days after returning home we made a trip to Coban to attend the 37th Kekchi Annual Assembly. Pastors and national missionaries from all over the Coban region were present. During the first evening service alone there were 472 people in attendance. What a joy it was to be able to spend some time with them again in worship and fellowship.  To read about our time there, you can visit this LINK.

Weekly Bible Study
Mid-month we attended a kickoff for a thirteen week Bible study at the Baptist church in Parramos. This Saturday afternoon study will be for children and women.  Pray for this evangelistic time of weekly sharing the Gospel and studying God's Word together.  Pray for the church as they lead this outreach each week and that many in their community will be impacted by their efforts.

Sharing
We attended a Sunday evening service at the Baptist church in San Andres Itzapa where David preached and shared his testimony.  We try to attend this church at least once a month to love on the pastor and encourage his congregation.

Serving
We said goodbye to Terrie after having her here for two months.  She was a blessing and we are thankful for her willing heart to come and serve.

She used her gift as a retired teacher to be on mission.  Do you have gifts and talents that God could use on the mission field?  Whether that be for a week long trip, an extended trip like Terrie, or for long term, God can use people of all ages and backgrounds to share the Gospel around the world.  You can visit www.imb.org/go to see opportunities that are currently available.

Intermissions Conference
We ended the month attending the Intermissions Conference at beautiful Lake Atitlan in Panajachel, Guatemala.  This is an annual conference for the English speaking missionary community who serve all over Guatemala.  We enjoyed not only spending time with our IMB mission family but catching up with other missionary friends as well.

While we were in worship services and break out sessions, our kids were being taught and entertained by volunteer teams from the U.S. Our boys absolutely love this event and look forward to it all year long!

During one of the breakout sessions, David and I sat on a panel of missionaries with varied years of service between us.  We answered the question "What do you wish you had known when you first came to the field?" as well as other random questions that were asked of us. We were thankful for that opportunity to share.

In all there were 132 adults, 68 MK's, and 46 volunteers at the conference.  Everyone had a wonderful time!

Service Opportunity
We have a semester long opportunity available for a college age female to come work with us.  This will be a dual role of helping with homeschool and working with us in ministry.  It is through the IMB's Hands On program.

We currently have a request for Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 on the IMB website.  If you or someone you know might be interested in serving in this way, please let us know.  We would love to talk and see if this would be a good fit.

Students Are Coming
This summer we will be welcoming seven college students to serve alongside us. We have five females and two males coming. They will be here May 26- June 19.

We are excited about the great group that God has put together to serve with us.  Begin praying now for these students. Pray that God would be preparing all of our hearts to work well together.

Upcoming Mission Team
On March 11-17 we will be welcoming a mission team from Easthaven Baptist in Brookhaven, MS.  This is the city where we stay while on Stateside Assignment.  We know many who are coming on the team and we are honored that they have chosen to come and work alongside us.  Pray for our week together and that God would use each of us to advance the Gospel.
