November 2022 Newsletter

MISSION TEAMS
During October we hosted a volunteer team from First Baptist Church, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.  They spent the week in the Chiquimula area sharing and preaching in three services, making home visits, doing evangelism, and encouraging the believers in that area.

This church partnered with us continuously throughout our years of living in that area.  They had a great part in the advancement of the work, especially in the Nearar and Muyurco areas.  It was good to take them back to see the growth and also to encourage them and their church to continue praying.

Would you continue praying also for the Chorti work?  Pray for the believers to stay strong in their faith and be bold in sharing the Gospel with their neighbors.
Our team from FBC Mt. Pleasant, SC
Our next team will arrive on Saturday, November 5.  We'll be hosting a group from Flat Creek Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Georgia.  Our very first mission team to host in Guatemala was from this church back in March 2007.  They have been special to us ever since.

David will be taking them to the Chiquimula area to do a VBS in a local school. It will be a group of sixteen.  Pray for them as they prepare to come.  Pray for us as we make final preparations to host them. Pray for good health while here.  Pray for safety of travel throughout the week.  Most of all, pray for clear presentations of the gospel and that many children and their parents will give their lives to Christ.
NEW MISSIONARY
In early October we welcomed the newest member to our IMB Guatemala mission family.  Lauren Nichols arrived as a two year journeyman to serve in the Quetzaltenango area alongside career missionaries Gary and Lily Stone.  Pray for Lauren as she continues to adjust to life here and does language study.  Pray that God would use her greatly over the next two years to advance the gospel in that part of Guatemala.

The IMB offers multiple avenues for young adults to serve on the mission field.  These include 1-3 week mission trips, being a summer missionary, the Hands On semester program, or the two year journeyman program.  Visit: www.imb.org/students to learn more.

PERSECUTED CHURCH
The Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church is Sunday, November 6. This will be an opportunity for individuals and churches across the Southern Baptist Convention to unite in prayer for our brothers and sisters around the world who are persecuted for their faith. When we pray for persecuted believers, God uses their witness to inspire gospel transformation among the lost.

Will you join us in praying?  Visit www.imb.org/persecuted for resources and more information.
