We began the month of August by celebrating David's birthday.
A beautiful sunset view from our yard one evening.
We had chili pies for supper one night and ate outside around our fire pit.
We attended a Corn Festival in our town.
We took a day trip to Irtra Petapa, which is a theme park in Guatemala City. We met the Rozycki family there and had a wonderful time together.
My sweet friend Leah.
Cruz helping David wash dishes. Delegating chores is high on our priority list these days.
David traveled for nearly two weeks during August. He attended a work training in Idaho. He sent me this photo one morning of his beautiful view.
The boys and I kept busy with homeschool. We went into town a few afternoons and evenings to avoid cabin fever. Here we are enjoying donuts and iced coffees at Dunkin Donuts in Antigua.
We spent a lot of time at a nearby basketball court. This helped them burn energy and gave me a little break.
We also tried the Wendy's Frosty-ccinos and are now big fans. I love the vanilla and the boys love the chocolate.
He's growing up so fast!
An evening view of Agua volcano.
We missed David greatly and were overjoyed when he returned home. He had a strawberry cake waiting for him when he got back. It is his favorite.
He also loves pumpkin pie so I made him one of those recently too.
A new art museum opened recently in Antigua. We visited it one afternoon. Admission is free and it is very nice. They offer audio recordings of each exhibit in Spanish, English, and Kachiquel.
David and I squeezed in a few afternoon coffee dates while the boys were at P.E. We had one before his trip and one after.
We do not get a lot of time alone so we try to value it when we do. Any quiet, still moments we get these days we treasure. We love our boys but they are active!!
We are now a few days into September. I have done a little fall decorating in the house and even though we do not have a fall season here it is still my favorite time of year. Having fall colors in the house and baking our favorite fall foods makes us all feel warm inside and a little bit more connected to home.
