Enjoying the City at Christmas

We spent a little time in Guatemala City last week.  We had a dual purpose in going.  One was to soak in all of the sights and sounds of the city at Christmastime and the second was to get some medical checkups.  We left home on Monday morning so excited about a few days away.

We had an appointment for Monday morning but at the last minute it got cancelled.  Instead, we made a stop at Miraflores Mall.  I have always loved visiting this mall at Christmas.  It is one of my favorite things to do.

                                                             My favorite Christmas tree.

We discovered that this mall has an outdoor area with a lot of space to walk around and relax.  They had a few vendors set up and a lot of beautiful Christmas decorations all around.

They had scooters for rent and the boys really enjoyed that.  There is a trail to ride on that makes a big loop around the area.  This was our favorite spot.  We look forward to returning again soon.

David and I enjoyed coffee and mini pecan pies while the boys rode the scooters.

That afternoon we checked into an Airbnb with amazing views of the city.  Looking out our windows was my favorite part of the trip.

                                                                   Ben on the balcony.

That evening we walked to Oakland Mall for supper.  It was so pretty!

A night view of the city from our balcony.  This was the night that everyone was looking at the star.  As you can see it was way too cloudy for us to see anything.

                                                               Christmas Dunkin Donuts- yum!!

We began Tuesday morning at the bowling alley.  That was a lot of fun!

Then it was time for checkups.  Here are the boys at our pediatrician clinic.  We are thankful for 10 years of great care at this clinic.  We have used them since Cruz was born.

Cruz could not believe that he was once small enough to fit on that scale.

Enjoying the views on our last morning. When the clouds moved you could see the volcanoes in the distance.  We also enjoyed watching the planes and helicopters pass by.

The boys would have spent every minute in the gym.  It was like a play land to them.

I love the look on Ben's face.  He is a fierce competitor.

A rooftop photo before checking out and driving back home on Wednesday.  It had been a wonderful Christmas break outing.  We were sad to leave but at the same time eager to get back home to start our Christmas celebration.
