Christmas 2020

We had a quiet little Christmas at home this year. It was simple but a lot of fun.

We began Christmas Eve with our annual snowman pancake breakfast.

While I did some prep-cooking David took the boys to the market to buy fireworks.

We had Christmas Eve lunch at Tacool, a family favorite.

We made a "Happy birthday, Jesus" cake and enjoyed it for dessert.

We also had these jello jigglers.

That night for supper we roasted hot dogs and marshmallows in the fire.

We watched A Charlie Brown Christmas while eating.  That is a Christmas Eve tradition at our house.

We then headed outside to shoot fireworks.  This is a view of our window from outside.

We came back in and they unwrapped their Christmas pajamas.

In Guatemala the whole country shoots fireworks at midnight on Christmas Eve.  It is quite spectacular to see and hear!  The boys had wanted to stay up but as you can see neither one of them made it.

Once they were asleep we put out their gifts and waited until midnight.  We watched the fireworks and then went to bed ourselves.
The bad thing about staying up to watch the midnight fireworks is that we have early risers.  They were up extra early ready to open gifts.

For lunch I cooked ham, potato casserole, macaroni and cheese, English peas, deviled eggs, rolls, and a pumpkin pie.

We stayed in pajamas all day long.  We watched a marathon of Christmas movies and the boys played with their new toys.  It was a lazy day and we loved it!

They shot fireworks again that night before bed.  When we tucked them in they said it was one of their favorite Christmases ever.  You know that made this mama proud!
