Back in January we had a wonderful visit from some precious friends in Georgia. Part of the Pearson family came down for a long weekend and we got to spend a lot of time with them while they were here. We have known this family since our first year in Guatemala. Their church, Flat Creek Baptist in Fayetteville, GA, was our first mission team to host. They have been dear to our hearts ever since.

We enjoyed a lot of meals together, shopping, and exploring town. One of our highlights was a Saturday morning guided walking tour of Antigua. We all enjoyed it and it was especially helpful for us to learn more about the town and it's history as we begin to host more people here. We began the tour in the Central Park and spent three hours walking all over town with a guide. Here are some photos I took.
The main cathedral in town. According to our guide it was completed in 1620 and was the 2nd built in Central America.

The ruins behind the main cathedral. This is the same location of the beautiful Christmas concert we enjoy going to in December.
Fuego Volcano in the distance having just spit out some smoke.
beautiful flowers bloom here year round
I don't think I would have ever noticed this cross had the guide not pointed it out.

As we walked we passed a store selling black corn tortillas. We could not pass up the chance to eat some. They are delicious!
my boys love tortillas!

The tour ended at Hotel Casa Santo Domingo.
After the tour we had lunch at Epicure. They joined us for church on Sunday morning and then we dropped them off at their hotel. We then drove to the airport to pick up my mom who was flying in for the week. I posted about her visit HERE.
We love having guests and as you can see we have a great place to host them. Isn't Antigua beautiful? Come visit. :-)
