September 2018 Newsletter

We have focused a lot of our time lately trying to strengthen the work in the Nearar/ Porto Suelo/ Muyurco area.  That area has been our main focus since returning from Stateside Assignment earlier this year.  We had a good push there with our summer teams and we are continuing to pour into the group of believers there on a weekly basis.
We had eleven services in those areas during the month of August.  We are thankful for each opportunity that we have had to teach God's Word there.

On one of those days we picked up our leader in Porto Suelo to go to Bible study with us in Muyurco.  He brought his uncle with him.  He had led him to the Lord earlier that week and has faithfully brought him each week since.  We challenge them regularly to share Christ with others and it blessed our hearts to see evidence of that.  Pray for this new believer as he is being discipled and beginning his walk with the Lord.
Continue to pray for these three village areas.  Many have shared a desire to come to Bible study but are afraid to associate with us because of the backlash it might cause for them in the village. Our group has been praying that they would overcome this fear and join in.  Today we had ten visitors at our Nearar service.  There were two men, four women, and four children.  Praise the Lord!  Pray for boldness for the believers there to continue to share Christ with their family and neighbors.  Pray that they would not grow weary but would continue to trust God's timing and plans.
In addition to that we also had two trips into Guatemala City during the month of August.  The first was to attend a retirement luncheon for the Chafin family who retired after 40 years of missionary service with the IMB.
Later, we had a team meeting in Guatemala City with our IMB leader.  We spent much of our time in fellowship, sharing, and encouraging each other.  We also focused on how we could all better serve in the future.
We will be hosting two small teams this month.  The first one will be arriving later today and working with us this coming week.  They are from one of our partner churches in South Carolina.  Later this month we will host a couple from a church in Alabama.  Pray for our time with these volunteers to be fruitful and that God would bless their efforts to advance the Gospel here in our work area.
We thank you for your continued role in our ministry by partnering with us in prayer.  We are honored to have you alongside of us in this journey.  Your prayers are making a difference in the lives of the Guatemalan people.  Gracias!
