December 2015 Newsletter

Greetings from Guatemala!  It is hard to believe another year is about to come to an end.  As we look back over 2015 we are excited about the many ways we have seen God work in our ministry.  We have been able to lead many Bible studies in several different villages. God has really been working in two of those villages and as a result we have seen nine people baptized and possibly a few more before the year ends.  Praise the Lord for those new believers!  Pray for us as we seek to disciple them.  Following Christ here often means going against family, tradition, and everything you have ever known.  It often leads to isolation and persecution.  It is not an easy thing to do so pray for these new believers and pray also for others who have not yet made the decision to follow Christ that they would boldly do so in the coming year.  Lift up by name the villages of Chanco, Corral de Piedras, Muyurco, Nearar, Porto Suelo, Lagunetas, Churischan, Tarxaja, and Tunuco Arriba.  Pray that God's saving grace would fall like rain in each of these areas.

We recently finished up our teams for the year by hosting a group from LifePark Church in Mount Pleasant, SC. Overall we hosted six teams this year and already have eight planned for 2016.  We are thankful for the precious ones who have come on these teams and helped plant seeds of the Gospel in our work area.  We are thankful for the friendships we are forming with them and mostly for the way they have loved on and encouraged our family.

We recently attended a retirement party for four more couples that will be retiring from the IMB this month.  There will be a total of six couples retiring leaving us with only five IMB families in Guatemala.  It is a sad time within our IMB mission family and we ask you to pray for all of us- the ones retiring and the ones left on the field.  We were thankful for the time we got to spend together as a mission family celebrating Thanksgiving this year.  There was a lot of laughter and many tears were shed.  Change and transition is hard.  Would you pray us all through these uncertain and difficult days?

Please remember us as you give to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering this year.  You can  give online.  Our family is a direct recipient of that offering and we depend on it to meet our needs.  Also, here are five more creative ways that you can give to IMB to support mission work around the world.  No gift is too small so please consider giving this year.  As we travel up and down these steep mountain roads leading Bible study and telling others about Christ  you have a part in that because you give.  Thank you for giving!  Because you give we can go!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from our family to yours.
