I am behind on my blogging this week mostly due to the fact that our internet service has been terrible! It has been out more than it has been on in the past few days. I usually do my blogging at night after the kids go to bed but the service has been out for the past two straight nights. Yesterday, for example, it went out around 4 in the afternoon and stayed off until around 4 this afternoon. It drives me crazy when the service is out, but I realize how much other stuff I get done when we don't have internet service. It's a toss up either way you look at it.
With that being said, I'll go back to last Friday night. We enjoyed having dinner with the Lubeck's. They are the Bible translation team for the Chorti language. Right before we met to eat they had just picked up the first copy of their latest translation project. They had just recently finished translating the books of Genesis, Ruth, Esther, and Jonah into Chorti and had them printed in book form. They were very excited and we were excited for them! Below is a copy of the book-

We shared with them our interest in studying the language again. They invited us to start attending a Bible study they have in their home on Monday mornings. It is done in Chorti. We attended for the first time this past Monday and plan to go as often as we can so we can hear the language being spoken. They sing several songs in Chorti and then have a Bible study. We enjoyed our time there even though we did not understand what was being said.
The Lubeck's are a lot of fun, and we are thankful to have them as a resource to help us learn all we can about the Chorti people, their culture, and their language. I think they are currently working on translating the books of 1Samuel and Proverbs. Would you pray for them as they little by little work to get the Old Testament translated into the Chorti language? I am sure they would appreciate it.
