Traveling to Panama June 2019

Back in June we had a work trip to Panama for some training.  It was our first time to visit Panama so we decided to go a few days early to do some exploring with the boys.  We had a wonderful time there.  Panama is a beautiful country!  I will break our visit up into several posts.  The first one will be our travel day.

We had a 6:00 a.m. flight which meant we had to be at the airport super early.  Here we are catching our taxi from our mission house in Guatemala City to the airport at 3:30 a.m.

Boarded and ready to go.

Welcome to Panama!
The flight was only 2.5 hours long so we had the whole day to play.

Our hotel was less than 30 minutes away.  We got checked in and immediately went out to the balcony to see the view.  Here is a panoramic view of what we saw. What sold us on this hotel was the views of the water.  Every ship that passed through the canal whether coming in or going out on the Pacific Ocean side passed right in front of us.  It was so cool!

Watching a ship pass by.

Another thing I loved about this location was the fact that it had a TGI Fridays attached to it.  You know I love Fridays!!!  We went there for lunch.

The views from the restaurant were just as cool.  Here is a ship we watched pass by from our table.

After lunch we went for a swim.

A view of the Bridge of the Americas from the pool.  Just beyond that bridge is the Miraflores Locks where the ships pass through.

That afternoon/ evening we visited the Albrook Mall.   It was huge and definitely the biggest mall we had ever been in.  We spent several hours just walking around looking at everything. Our main purpose in going was to eat supper at the food court.  We had no idea there would be so many options there.

It was a fun filled night and great way to end our first day in Panama.  We were tired though and needed a good nights rest.  The next morning we would be exploring the Panama Canal.  How exciting is that?  I'll post about that fun adventure next.
