October 2012 Newsletter

Greetings from Guatemala!  We are currently packing up and getting ready to make our annual trip to the States to see family and friends.  We are looking forward to spending some time there eating, visiting, laughing, playing, and just enjoying making some memories with our boys.  It will be the first time for most of our family to see Ben.  We are excited about that!  Pray that our time of vacation will be relaxing and enjoyable, and that we will leave refreshed and eager to get back to work.

Speaking of work September ended on a pretty good note.  We have been doing two Bible studies in the village of Nearar.  They are both going well.  There was a new believer murdered there last month.  Because of that we had to take a week off and let things die down.  We were glad to return this past Sunday and study one more time before we leave.  Pray for this village and the many there who are not believers.  Pray for those there who have accepted Christ to stay strong in their faith despite persecution and being few in number.

We were joined by Dan Watson and made a visit to the village of Lagunetas.  We met there with some of the village leaders about them sending a group of twelve young adults over to the Chorti Baptist Development Project in Honduras to study agriculture.  It will be a six week course led by Dan and we will be incorporating Bible storying into it.  We will meet for six weekends begining the first weekend in November.  We will break for Thanksgiving and finish up mid-December.  Would you pray for us as we begin this.  Pray for the twelve students as well that God would prepare their hearts to hear His Word.

David and Cruz made some home visits with fellow missionaries David and Glynis Miller in the village of Chanco.  The Miller's are looking to partner a Guatemalan church with a Stateside church to work together to reach that village.   Pray for the work that they are hoping to start there.

We appreciate your continued prayers and support of our work here in Guatemala.  We will complete six years of service with the IMB this month.  Many of you have prayed for us from the start.  We cannot say thank you enough for how you have encouraged us and prayed for us over the years.  It's been an honor to serve here on the mission field!
