El Día de los Niños

October 1 is Dia Del Niño/ Kids Day in Guatemala.  It is similar to Mother's Day and Father's Day except you celebrate the kids.  The children love it!  That morning Cruz was invited by another missionary to go visit a small hospital in the neighboring town of Jocotan.  It is only for malnourished kids.  She thought it would be fun for Cruz to help her give out stuffed animals to the kids.  I tagged along just to make sure he did not get out of hand.  David stayed home with our 5 month old, Ben, and her 1 month old, Solise.  They were both taking their morning naps when we left, but regardless he was very brave for doing that. haha
Here he is after giving these two girls a stuffed animal

Sweet!

He also got to enjoy a chocolate covered cupcake while there.

We came home in time for lunch and he then took a 3.15 hour nap.  AHHH!  He woke up just in time to go to a party our neighbors were giving for all the kids.  They did a great job of hosting the party.  They had games, confetti, toys, pinatas, candy, balloons, and lots of food.  They were very generous to the kids, and it blessed our hearts.  It was a lot of fun and we all enjoyed it.  Before leaving they invited us to their Christmas Eve party.  If it is anything like their Kids Day party we will not want to miss it.

The lady in red is our neighbor who hosted the party.  She has three older children (the boy in the white t-shirt, the girl in the black and white stripes, and the girl in jeans with her back to the camera).  Cruz loves playing with them and riding his bike with them.  They are so sweet to him.

they did face painting

they had sack races

They had two pinatas.  There was Strawberry Shortcake for the girls, and Spiderman for the boys.  Here is Cruz's friend Kimberly hitting the pinata.

Cruz was eager to take a turn.

They gave each kid a ball.  This is Cruz running across the road to show me.  He was soo happy about that!  He initially got this orange one until Kimberly got a yellow one.  He had to swap and get one just like her.  Now they have matching balls, haha.

They fed everyone these chicken tostadas and Rosa Jamaica drink.

It was a fun day, and Cruz had a good time celebrating.
