Easter 2012

On Friday we were invited to a cookout at the home of the Johnson's.  They live in Chiquimula.  They have a beautiful home and a beautiful yard.  It was a pretty place for us all to gather.  We were told to arrive mid-morning and plan to spend the day eating and fellowshipping.  We were some of the first ones to arrive so Cruz and I spent some time walking around their yard and I tried to get a few photos of him.
Happy Easter!

They had a goldfish pond and he loved watching the fish.

At one point he found this brush and started cleaning the rock around the pond.  Only David's child!  haha  He would dip it in the water and then scrub all over the rocks.

They planned for us to play several outdoor games.  Croquet was the first one they had out.  Cruz loved playing with the sticks and balls.  He was entertained for a while.

We ate out back under this covered area.  It was beautiful and we had very pretty views of the mountains in the distance.  Each table had a fan blowing on it and it was nice considering it was a scorching hot day.  We had hamburgers, hot dogs, beans, potato salad, cole slaw, deviled eggs, chips, dip, and several yummy desserts.

This is Larry (the host) grilling our meats.

These were too cute

After lunch they hooked up the sprinklers to cool off the kids.  They all enjoyed playing in the water together.  It was a very fun day, and we really enjoyed the fellowship we had there with the others.

The rest of our Easter weekend was not so enjoyable.  We ran out of water and lost power (a transformer blew on Saturday and it was Sunday before they could get it fixed).  It has been hot, sticky, and at times just plain miserable.  It made us thankful for a simple shower and electricity to run a fan.

Today we are finalizing our packing and preparing for our trip into Guatemala City tomorrow.  There is so much to think about as far as packing- what we need before the birth, while I am in the hospital, all of the new baby's things, and things for the time after the birth that we plan to be in the City.  It is overwhelming to think about.  Please pray that I can have a clear mind and pack all that we will need for the time there.
