Greetings from Guatemala! We are excited to see the month of April arrive. It is the birth month of our new little boy. He is scheduled to be delivered by c-section on Monday, April 16. Would you please be in prayer for us as we prepare to travel into Guatemala City next week to get ready for the delivery. Please pray for a safe, healthy delivery, and a quick recovery for me.
March was a good month for us. David had many opportunities to travel out to village areas. He translated two days for a medical clinic in two different villages. He traveled two days with Bro. Nahum from Honduras making home visits. We hosted a group of six from Honduras to look at the land and housing of the Chorti on the Guatemala side. We have a village in mind for possibly beginning an agricultural project in. We are now just waiting on the timing of when to begin. He attended a pastor's conference with the pastors that serve in the eastern part of Guatemala. He enjoyed getting to meet many of them. We hosted several guests in our home that included Gary and Lily Stone, Wendall and Jane Parker, and David Miller. We always enjoy having company. We also both got our Guatemalan drivers license in March. We made a trip into Guatemala City and also attended a fellowship with the other missionaries that live and serve in this area. It was a fun month. It was full of opportunities to get out and learn more about the area we are now living in.
Please pray for the village of Nearer. There are a couple of families that have believed there, but because of pressure from the community leaders to not have anything to do with the evangelicals many have turned away. There is only one family left who are professing Christ publicly. David has visited in their home twice recently and also helped do a Bible study there with them. This family is wanting to build a small place of worship on their property to start having services in. Pray that the Lord would provide what they need to do this and also that He would protect them from the persecution they are experiencing regularly.
Also please pray for the relationship with a family in the village of Lagunetas that we are trying to form. We have visited many times with this family, but are waiting for an invitation to come and have a Bible study there. Pray that the Lord would open their hearts to allow us to come and share His Word with them.
April is going to bring about a lot of change for us and a lot of new adjustments. Pray that we would handle it well and that we would quickly find our new "norm". We hope to be feeling your prayers strongly over the next few weeks.
