Takin' it Easy

Other than Monday, our week has been pretty uneventful. We have spent a few mornings at Miss Fran's reviewing some K'ekchi' and reading Bible stories. David has been working hard trying to get the stories edited and ready to burn on CD's. I've just been cooking, washing, and cleaning.

We are still on hold with our English news channel. They are having "technical difficulties" and we hope to get it back on air soon.
We have taken a few late evening walks around town this week and have really been enjoying it! Today we decided to walk to Miss Fran's instead of drive. It takes about 15 minutes to get there. On the way home we stopped by a few stores and looked around. We love getting out and walking around town. You see soo much more on foot than by car. We stopped by a local bread store and bought some sweet bread for a snack. The worker was a K'ekchi' girl and we loved her reaction when we spoke to her in K'ekchi'. She could not get over it. ha I love the look on her face in this photo. It's as if she is saying, "this white boy speaks my language!!".
I mentioned before that we are trying to cut back on our soda drinking.

When my dad visited, he left about 8 boxes of Crystal Light drink mixes. We are enjoying those as well as some local drink mixes that we buy here. We love the fruit mixes. Our favorites are mango & tangerine. This week while buying groceries I saw this pack. The flavor was Tuna Melon!!! YUCK, I thought.
The name does not sound appealing but I bought it anyway. It turns out to be pretty good. The flavor is honeydew melon. The smell reminds me of Bath & Body Works.
Tonight we will have dinner at the Wiseman's. We are looking forward to a time of eating and fellowship with them.

  7. Regina, nice to meet you too! The blogging community just amazes me :-) I've made so many friends all over the world. I started blogging at my kids' insistence because they said it would be a good way for us to keep in touch. But it has turned into so much more than that!

How long have you been in Guatemala? We've been in Argentina for almost 10 months. My hubby was a pastor before we came, too. He's an MK and already knew Spanish but I'm working hard at it. Without a doubt, it's the hardest thing I've ever done. Not sure if it's my age (I'm 50) or if I would have had a hard time learning it even when I was younger, but it's just plain HARD WORK.

    Have a blessed weekend!
