After arriving in Estes Park and having a picnic lunch at the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center, we drove to the Wild Basin park entrance to do our first hike. This entrance is located near the community of Allenspark, which is just a short drive out of town along Hwy. 7.
We had our first animal sighting on the drive there.
We passed by Longs Peak.
View on the drive to Wild Basin.
This sign made me smile!
We hiked to see three waterfalls- Copeland Falls, Calypso Cascades, and Ouzel Falls.
Cruz and David ready to hit the trail.
In my happy place!

Ben climbed a lot of rocks on the trip!
On the drive back into town we stopped by to see the Chapel on the Rock. It is such a cute place!
We arrived at our final destination late that afternoon. For the second time we enjoyed the faith leaders getaway package at the YMCA of the Rockies.
As the song says, we love to stay at the YMCA!
We got checked into our lodge room, unpacked, enjoyed a buffet meal in the dining hall (all meals were included in our package), showered, and were in bed early. It had been a long day coming off of just a few hours of sleep the night before. But, it was a most enjoyable day! We were so happy to be back in a place we truly love. We went to bed excited for the next day where we would be hiking our favorite national park trail of all! I'll share about that next.
