After arriving in Estes Park, we made our first drive into Rocky Mountain National Park. It was the park we were most looking forward to, and it did not disappoint! Our initial plan was just to drive around and get a feel for the park. We did that, but then also got out and explored some as well.
outside the Fall River Visitor Center
Before entering the park we made a stop by the visitor center. We always like looking around in the store. Cruz picked up his first patch and pin there also.

What a fun sight to see!
entering the park
It did not take us long to start seeing wildlife.
The scenic drives were breathtaking!
We stopped often for photos because it was just so pretty everywhere you looked.
We headed up Trail Ridge Road. You could only drive so far because part of it was still closed for the winter.
stopping to play in the snow
As we traveled up Trail Ridge Road the weather and temperature changed quickly.
We saw more and more snow that had not melted. It was beautiful!
Much to our surprise, it started snowing on the drive up. What a treat that was!!
Someone opted to stay in the car instead of playing in the snowfall.
The view on the drive back down. It was snowing hard at times.
Once we got to lower elevation, the weather was fine again.
We climbed up some rocks to take this photo.

the snow covered mountain views never got old!
more wildlife as we drove through Beaver Meadows

We drove on to the Bear Lake area. From there we did our first hike. I'll post about that next.
Here is a YouTube video from the day that includes video clips of us driving up and down Trail Ridge Road in the snow.
