Pachamama Blends is a beautiful tea store in Antigua. During November they put on a Tea Festival to showcase their teas. They get restaurants all over town to participate by offering free samples of their different tea blends to participants. Each restaurant offers a different blend. The event is free and so much fun!
You pick up a map at their store that shows you which businesses are participating. You then walk all over town sampling delicious tea. Some were served hot and others cold. After sampling the tea, the restaurant puts a sticker on your map to show where all you have been.
This year Cruz and I did it together. It was a fun outing for us and definitely something we will look forward to doing again in coming years.

Our first stop was at El Viejo Cafe.

This was a cold lavender flavored tea served at Artista de Cafe, which happens to be our favorite coffee shop in town.

I wish I had taken more photos!! I will have to do better next time. I will also add that I am not typically a tea drinker, with the exception of ice cold Southern sweet tea. I prefer coffee over tea. But, in spite of that, I did enjoy the festival and getting to sample the different flavors. Our overall favorite was El Bosque. It is a combination of citrus and red fruits. We purchased some from the store to make at home.
In addition to Antigua, they also do the festival at Plaza Fontabella and Oakland Place in Guatemala City. If you are in any of these locations from early- mid November, you should definitely try it out!!
And, if you're in Antigua any time of the year, stop by Pachamama Blends. They'll give you a great presentation on tea, a delicious sample of your choice, and of course allow you to make a purchase of your favorite blend.
