On May 26, Cruz turned thirteen years old! Here is a look at how we celebrated him that day.

Next, we headed to the airport to pick up our Summer Sojourners.
The caretaker at our Guatemala City mission house had decorations for Cruz when we checked in for the night.
We had supper at Panda Express with our interns as well as the Stones and Lauren the journeyman.

That evening we had cake with everyone at our mission house.
This year we bought his cake from PriceSmart. It is our equivalent to a Sam's Club. It sure saved me a lot of time!
All of the college interns took turns sharing with Cruz wisdom and advice that they would tell their thirteen year old selves if they could go back. It was a sweet encouraging time for him (and his parents also).
Everyone singing to him.
Lauren smashed his face in the cake.

What a special treat to spend your 13th birthday with a group of college mission interns!!
