The Browns Visit November 2022

Our friends, the Browns, came for a visit during Thanksgiving break.  They did not get to stay for the actual holiday because they had to return home for a wedding.  It was a short visit but a most enjoyable one.  Like we do all of our guests, we squeezed in as much as we could with the time given.

They arrived on a Friday afternoon.  David drove into Guatemala City to pick them up while the boys and I finished school and they went to Awana class.  The Browns were here in time for Awana pickup and went with us to get them.

We took a group photo in our front yard once we were all together.

That evening we went into town for supper and a little exploring.

The Central Park was already getting decorated for the weekend flower festival.

We had supper at Ta'Cool.

We made a stop by Sarita's for ice cream and Starbucks for coffee before returning home.

The kids played a lot of video games together during the visit.  While they played, it gave us time to talk and catch up.  We stayed up late on Friday night doing just that.

The next day (Saturday) we attended the Antigua Flower Festival.  Then, after church on Sunday, we made a quick overnight visit to Lake Atitlan.

On our last full day together (Tuesday) we spent most of the day walking around Antigua.

We started off making our first of many coffee shop stops that day.  In all we visited five.  Reagan and David both love coffee so this was a fun day for them. Reagan wanted to take several different bags back home so David made sure he had a good variety.

We had a morning appointment at ChocoMuseo to do the chocolate making class.

We toured the jade museum and then let Malinda spend some money in the jade store.

Feliz Navidad!

We had lunch at Pappy's BBQ and then walked down to the Coffee Shack for afternoon coffee. We could have sat there all afternoon and talked.

Next, we walked them through the local market.  Here is a lady making blue corn tortillas.  We bought some for them to try.

Lastly, we stopped back by the artisan's market to finish buying souvenirs.

That evening we built an outdoor fire and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows for supper.  We sat and talked for hours. It was our last night together and I don't think any of us were ready for our time to end.

The next morning (Wednesday) was the Brown's 26th anniversary.  I had streamers and balloons waiting for them when they came downstairs.  Blue and yellow were their wedding colors so I even included that detail.  I made them banana pancakes and bacon for breakfast.  Happy anniversary, friends!!

We took a few last photos before David drove them to the airport. The boys and I stayed home.  I had a lot of cooking to do for Thanksgiving Day.

sweet friends

She's the best!

Everybody needs friends in their lives like the Browns.  They love big and have been a constant steady in our lives since we met them. We have many wonderful memories together over the years and now we can add this fantastic week to our list.  We are thankful that they came to visit and cannot wait to host them again.
