First Day of School August 2021 (Cruz 6th and Ben 4th)

After what was probably the best summer break we have ever had, we started back to school this past week.  Here is a look at how we celebrated the first day of class-

We began on Monday morning.  I had decorated the night before and had everything sitting out and ready.

I had not missed Guatemala much at all until it was time to start school.   This semester we will do school around the dining room table at our mission house.  It is a good setup but I am missing my school room like crazy.

You could probably guess what we had for breakfast. Banana pancakes are a special occasion staple!

After breakfast we took "first day of school" photos.

We also did our first day of school memory sheets.

We always go out to eat on the first day of school.  This year the boys chose the local Mexican restaurant.  It is definitely a family favorite!

After leaving the restaurant, we walked next door to the local pet shop and bought a fish.  It will be our class pet for this semester.  They named him Edwin and will call him Ed.  He was named after one of their current favorite YouTube channels Edwin's Corner.

Getting a fish on the first day of school while on Stateside Assignment is now a tradition.  Here they are back in 2017 getting fish on their first day of 2nd grade and kindergarten.  It seems like yesterday!!

We were not necessarily ready to be back in the books but I am loving the routine that school provides us.  I am looking forward to a wonderful year of studying and exploring together.
