Venturing Out
Much
has changed since our last update as far as restrictions go. Towards
the end of the month we went to a red light system as a plan for
reopening the economy. Depending on the number of active cases where
you live you will either be labeled red, orange, yellow, or green. Red
indicates high cases and green means very little. Currently there are no
green areas. Our area is still red which means our restrictions will
be a little tighter.
We just spent our first weekend without lock down in a long time. We
still did not get out much but it was nice just knowing that we could.
The travel ban between departments has been lifted which means we can
now travel out to our work areas again. There is also no longer a
restriction on which days (even or odd) you can travel in your car. Our
daily curfew remains but now does not begin until 9:00 p.m. Churches
in our area remain closed and schools remain closed country wide. Some
restaurants and businesses are beginning to open back up but with strict
capacity limits. The airport remains closed and the State of Emergency
was extended until early September.
It is nice to be getting a few freedoms back. We have been able to
venture out some this past month and it has definitely restored some of
our joy.

Feeding Projects
We
completed another feeding project this past month. We have plans to do
one or two more during the month of August. These projects have given
us a great opportunity to stay in touch with the local pastors and
assist them in ministering to their communities.
One pastor recently reported a profession of faith as a result of the
distributions and also a few reconciliations. It has most definitely
given them an open door to share the gospel and love on their neighbors.
Thank you for giving to Send Relief. Your gifts are impacting lives not just here in Guatemala but around the world.

Face to Face
During the month of August David will be
trying to visit face to face with several of our partnering pastors.
The majority live outside of our department so it has been a challenge
to see them due to the restrictions. Pray that his visits will be
encouraging and uplifting. Pray for his travel and health as he begins
to get back out more and more.

Our
new school year is off to a great start. We are starting our third
week today. Continue to pray for our daily time of study. School
provides us with a lot of structure and routine. That is definitely
what we need right now.

As always, we appreciate your faithful prayers for our
family. These are difficult days for everyone. Pray for wisdom as we
seek to be light in our little part of the world. Pray that God would
guide us and use us for His glory during these uncertain days.

Thank you Southern Baptists!
Because you give, we can go!
