September 2019 Newsletter

This newsletter will cover the past two months since I failed to send one out for August.

We hosted two teams in July.  One was from South Carolina and the other from Texas. The South Carolina team stayed in Antigua and partnered with a local pastor in a neighboring area. They did home visitation, school ministry, and a ladies Bible study.  We took the Texas team back to our home area in Chiquimula to make visits and do a service.  They also worked in a few schools.  They spent a day in the Department of Zacapa working with a local pastor there.  Both teams did a great job of serving and sharing their faith in many different settings.
Our team from The Church at LifePark in Mt. Pleasant, SC
Our team from FBC Ozona, TX with a local pastor in Chiquimula.
We have met so many wonderful people over the years through hosting volunteers.  Some of our best prayer supporters are those who have come down to work with us.  It has been one of our favorite parts of being on the mission field.

This month we have more opportunities to serve with U.S. churches.  Yesterday we welcomed an Americas Connect team from Life Church in Culver City, CA.  They will spend this week working alongside a few local pastors encouraging them and ministering with them in their communities.  Pray for a great week together.

This team leaves on Saturday and then David will spend the following week working with another team in the Western side of Guatemala.  He will be assisting fellow missionary Gary Stone with this team.  Pray for plenty of strength and energy for him to do back to back teams.

Pray for us as we not only help the local churches catch a vision for missions but also that we could help the U.S. churches leave with a greater desire to go deeper in missions involvement in Guatemala, the Americas, and around the world.

Is God leading your church to get more involved in international missions?  Whether that be a first time trip or a new area to serve let us know how we can help you make that happen.
Our school year is off to a great start.  We are beginning week 6 today.  We are in a great routine and I am thankful for a very smooth transition back into a school schedule.

We have decided to join a homeschool co-op this year and it begins later this week.  We are excited about the opportunity to study with other families one day a week and enjoy fellowship with them.  Ben will be doing music, art, Science, and P.E.  Cruz will be doing art, literature, Science, and P.E.  I will be co-teaching both elementary Science classes.  We anticipate a fun experience for all of us.
On a sad note, David's mother passed away in mid-August.  He returned to the States to attend her funeral and spend time with the family.  Continue to lift him and his family up in prayer as they process her death and begin to move forward.

Here he is pictured with his mother and grandmother from Christmas 2017 when we were on Stateside Assignment.  His grandmother passed away back in March.  It has been a sad year for his family.  Would you pray for them? Times like this make it very hard to live so far away from home.
As always, we thank you for your prayers, love, and encouragement.  We are blessed to have you as our prayer partner and consider you a vital role in our lives and ministry.
