October 2018 Newsletter

This month we will celebrate 12 years of missionary service with the IMB.  What an honor it has been to serve the Lord here and represent Southern Baptists on the mission field.  Thank you for the way you have loved, encouraged, and supported us over the years.  We thank each and every one of you for the prayers that you have spoken not only on our behalf but also on behalf of the Guatemalan people.  We thank you and appreciate you! You have been a valuable part of our ministry.
During the month of September we hosted two volunteer teams.  We made many home visits to pray, encourage, and share the Gospel.  These teams did a great job of showing the love of Christ to the people here.  We have already seen fruit at our Bible studies from some of the visits made. These were our last planned teams to host for this year.
We had a full month of Bible studies.  In all we attended twelve during the month of September.  It has been a joy to teach God's Word on a weekly basis to these precious people we serve.  Many we hold dear to our hearts.

This month we will begin to wrap up those weekly study times and begin the process of serving them long distance.
A few months ago we were asked to consider a new role within the mission.  This role would be a connecting position between the U.S. churches and the field.  It would mean hosting more volunteers and training U.S. partners to be on mission.  This new role would not only cover our current work area but much of Guatemala.  In order to do this it requires a move on our part to be more central to receive teams.  We have prayed hard over this decision and have decided to move forward in the new role.

In taking this new role we will not completely be leaving the role we currently have.  It will be a dual position that would allow us to return to our current area and continue engaging the people there.  Although that will not be on a weekly basis like we are now.

We are waiting to receive final approval and once we do we will begin the moving process.  We anticipate a relocation to take place sometime between the end of this month and mid-November.
We will be moving to the beautiful city of Antigua, Guatemala.  It is about five hours from where we currently live.  Antigua is only about 45 minutes outside of Guatemala City.  The mission already owns a property there so we have a home to move in to.
Moving is never easy so we covet your prayers as we begin to pack and make the transition.  It will be quite a change, but we are excited about it.

We will be sharing more about this new role in the coming months.

In the meantime, please keep us in your prayers through this transition time.

  1. WOW, so happy for you. Antigua is an awesome place. I know you will miss all of those that you have connected with over the years but God will bring new connections and new challenges but also lots of new blessings! Keep on keeping on friends. Blessings!
