The teams most always have supper and team time at our house on the first night. We love hosting them in our home.

We had a picnic lunch at a local gas station and then made a visit in San Juan Ermita. There is a young man there who has Guillain-Barre syndrome. He has been bedridden for five years now. We stopped to pray for him but the main reason for stopping was to spend a little time encouraging his mother. The last time we were there I sensed that she was a little down and discouraged. I thought it would be good for our all women team to love on her some.
Next we drove back into town to spend some time with the ladies at Shalom Baptist Church in Chiquimula. We usually take teams there to pray for and encourage the pastor, Bro. Fito. This time we met with his wife and a few other females leaders. We had a good visit there with them. Several shared their hearts and struggles and the team followed up with scriptures and words of encouragement for them.
On Day 2 we were in the village of Chanco. We had several home visits lined up to make there. We split into two groups. One group made the harder hiking visits. Our group visited the school and a few houses that were easier to get to. Here is Ms Carolyn with a few of the school girls.
We sang several songs and then two of the team members shared Bible stories.

We spent Day 3 in Nearar. We began the day by splitting into two groups again to make home visits. We had a hiking group and a non-hiking group. I was on the non-hiking group and in spite of our name we still hiked every day. Maybe I should rename it to the less hiking group. Anyway, here are some of us gathered around that morning in the church building before splitting up.

While out visiting we also were inviting people to the afternoon movie and service. Around 1:30 we showed a movie and had a great turnout. Afterwards we had our normal Wednesday afternoon 3:00 service.
This is the movie we showed. I think it was enjoyed by all.

We began Day 4 by making home visits in Porto Suelo. On this day everyone was in the hiking group.

We arrived early for our afternoon Bible study in Muyurco so we could have a tortilla making class. Our last team enjoyed it so we incorporated it into this team too.

Afterwards we all gathered around for our normal 3:00 service. After the song time I took a group to teach the kids and several stayed and shared with the adults.

On Day 5 we made the trip back into Guatemala City. We stopped along the way in Jutiapa for a bathroom break and some Sarita's ice cream.

Saying goodbye to the team that night before they left for the airport. They had a midnight flight back to Charleston. We missed them the minute they drove away.
We had a great week together. We covered a lot of ground. We made a lot of good visits. They poured into our people every day and we cannot wait to see the fruit from their labor. Our work here is hard. It is slow and repetitive. Having the teams come down and work alongside of us helps break up the routine. It gives others an opportunity to share their lives with the people here and point them to Christ through their testimonies, Bible stories, words of encouragement, and actions. That ministers to our people and ministers to us all at the same time.
Just a little over a week now until our next team arrives. We cannot wait!
