Cruz has piano lessons on Friday afternoon. When he finished we surprised the boys with a trip to Jackson and a few fun activities. Our first stop was at Dunkin Donuts for an afternoon snack. They thought it was a special treat for them but it was really a treat for their donut loving mama.

We each chose whatever kind we wanted. Ben chose the Mardi Gras donut because he liked the colored sprinkles on top.
After our snack we headed to the theater to see Paddington 2. We had recently checked out part one from the library so we could watch it and know the story line. Part one was good but part two was even better. It was probably the cutest movie I have seen in a long time. We all loved it.
The theater had recliner seats. That was a first for our family. The boys thought it was the greatest thing.
Next we made a stop by the Bass Pro Shop. It was another first for the boys. They have been asking for a long time to go. We finally had an opportunity to take them. They LOVED it! They walked just about every inch of that store and touched just about everything in there.
They especially loved all of the wildlife on display.
look! look! look! That is all we heard from them.

We then stopped by Walmart and Wendy's before driving back home. It had been a really fun outing.
We slept in on Saturday morning and then packed a cooler of picnic supplies and headed to a local park. We had a picnic lunch and the boys spent about two hours playing in the fresh air. While they played I wrote out lesson plans for school.
That evening my mom and Mr. Thurman came down to see us. We went out to eat at The Fish Fry and then came back to our house and watched a movie.
On Sunday morning we drove back to Jackson to attend church with our friends the Browns at First Baptist. We enjoyed Sunday School and worship with them. One of the highlights was when we sang an old favorite during the worship service "Were it not for grace" by Larnelle Harris. I love the chorus to this song-
Were it not for grace
I can tell you where Id be
Wandering down some pointless road to nowhere
With my salvation up to me
I know how that would go
The battles I would face
Forever running but losing this race
Were it not for grace
I am so thankful for the grace of God and the difference that it has made in my life.
Sunday lunch with the Browns at Sal & Mookie's in Jackson. We love these dear friends!
Hope your week is off to a great start.
