More Christmas, A Movie, and A Musuem

We only took one week off from school during the holidays and it was the week between Christmas and New Year's.  Here is how we spent our week.

I was up early on the day after Christmas to go with my mom to a check-up in Jackson.  She had a follow-up appointment with her heart doctor.  When she was done we went out to lunch together at Olive Garden.  We then made a stop by Krispy Kreme before returning home.  It wasn't the healthiest thing to do after being at the doctor but it was fun.  We were thankful she got a good report.

I returned home and picked up David and the boys.  We then drove back to Crystal Springs to have Christmas with his mom.  We met late that afternoon to open gifts, visit, and eat supper.

On Wednesday David took the boys back to his Mom's house to play with their cousin Larsen.  While they were gone I was busy at home taking the Christmas decorations down and getting the house back in order.

On Thursday my mom drove down to go do some shopping and took us to lunch at Cracker Barrel.

Later that afternoon Mr. Thurman joined us and we all went to the movies to see Ferdinand.  The boys had received a movie gift card for Christmas and were eager to use it.  We enjoyed the movie.  It was cute.

On Friday morning we drove to Jackson to take the boys to the Mississippi Children's Museum.  It is their favorite place to go.  They had both been asking to return one more time before we go back to Guatemala.  They got money for Christmas to go again so we took them while we were off from school.

They had a Polar Express exhibit that the boys enjoyed playing in.

There were several of these train tables inside the exhibit.  The boys kept returning there throughout the day to play.

The museum was open from 9:00 -5:00.  We were there from 9:00- 4:15.  Yes, that is 7 hours!  Did I mention it is their favorite place?  They would have stayed longer if we would have let them.  I wanted them to be able to play as much as possible because I knew it would be a long time before we would get to go back again.  They had a blast and played hard all day long.

Cruz's favorite thing in the whole museum has always been this crane.  He loves it!

We climbed the tower outside.  It was cold out there!

They offered New Year's themed crafts throughout the day.  They made confetti poppers and countdowns.  In the afternoon they offered New Year's themed snacks for the kids to try.  They had black eyed peas, pasta, and greens.  Here is Cruz with a mouth full of peas.

I lost count on how many times they went down this big slide that day.  It was there for the holidays and something new for the boys.  They loved it!

It was cold all that week but the freezing cold temperatures started on Saturday.  With the exception of going to church on Sunday morning we did not leave the house from Friday night until Tuesday.   It was just too cold to get out and do anything.  That included ringing in the new year.  We cancelled all plans and stayed home.  I put together a fun party for New Year's Eve and it ended up being a really fun night for our family. I'll share about that in my next post.
