December 2017 Newsletter

Greetings from Mississippi!  We are excited to be in the States this year to celebrate the Christmas season.  We have only been in the States for Christmas twice since moving to Guatemala. I had forgotten just how busy things get around here this time of the year.  It can be easy to get distracted by all the hustle and bustle.  Let us all slow down and each take time to reflect on the true meaning of the season.  Let us remember the one gift that is most important- Jesus.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Today and every day I am thankful for the gift of salvation that is freely offered to us through Jesus.  I am also thankful for the opportunity to go and share that good news with those who need to hear it.  Your gifts to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering are what allows us to do that.

One of my favorite things about being home is getting to promote the Lottie Moon Christmas offering in person.  We kicked it off this past Sunday by sharing with two congregations.  We will continue to share all throughout this month.

We have one more travel trip planned.  It should be our last one for this Stateside Assignment.  We will be speaking in Louisiana this weekend and then driving on to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to share at a WMU Ladies Luncheon next Tuesday.  Pray for God's protection as we travel on the roads and also for our times of sharing this month.

 A Prayer Praise:
We were excited to get word that the Nearar group has begun meeting weekly in the new building.  Thank you for praying for their inauguration service last month.  It went well.  We are looking forward to joining them for worship in the new location soon.

A Prayer Request:

Join us in praying for the Muyurco Bible study.  This was the Thursday afternoon Bible study we were doing weekly before going on Stateside Assignment.  The homeowner where we were meeting lost his land and has had to move.  We were saddened to hear this.  We will not know the status of the Bible study there until we get back on the field next month.   Pray that we will be able to find another location to meet and continue teaching there on a regular basis.

We just recently returned from a trip to Virginia to attend a Homeschool Conference put on by the IMB.  We had a wonderful time there learning, training, and testing.  It was great to be with the other families and encourage each other in this part of our ministries.  The 1st-8th graders spent much of their week taking the Iowa Assessment Test.  At the end of the week we were able to sit down with our consultants and go over the grades.  It gave us a good idea of where our students were and what we need to focus on going forward.

I am thankful for opportunities like this that the IMB makes available to us. Homeschooling is hard and the IMB provides us with a great support system to help us do it well.  This is just another way your gifts to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering takes care of the missionaries serving on the mission field.

You can give to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering through your local Southern Baptist church or you can give online .  One hundred percent of every dollar given goes to support foreign missions.  Your gift will make a global difference.  Thank you for all you do to fulfill the Great Commission.
