One of the things I have
enjoyed about being in the States is getting to be part of a homeschool
fellowship group. We do not do school together but they do have regular
outings planned for the families to participate. In September we
visited the Mississippi Children's Museum, The Mississippi Museum of
Natural Science, toured the Mississippi State Capital building,
participated in Mr. Manship's Mystery Rooms at the historic Manship
House in Jackson, and had a Friday game night hosted by one of the
families. It has been a lot of fun for our family to be a part of this
group. As we are being refreshed by the fellowship of these families
pray that we would be a source of encouragement to them as well.
The majority of the month of
September was spent traveling. We made a sixteen day road trip to visit
our two partner churches in South Carolina. It was an amazing trip! We
were able to be in both partner churches for a Sunday and enjoyed
getting to share in each of their services. We had a reunion dinner/
fellowship night with many of our past team members. What a joy it was
to see them again! We had meals with the staff at each church, a meal
with the missions council, and many meals with individual families. The
love and kindness that each one showed to us was overwhelming. We
thank God for the partnership we have with these wonderful people and we
look forward to working alongside them again in Guatemala soon.
While on our road trip we
were able to squeeze in some family fun. We did a walking tour and
carriage ride tour of downtown Charleston. We visited the South
Carolina aquarium. We went to Patriots Point and toured the USS
Yorktown and USS Laffey. While there we also toured the USS Clamagore
submarine and an amazing Vietnam Experience Exhibit. We visited
Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. We also visited the Center for Birds
of Prey. We ate some of the most delicious foods and also took the boys
to their first wedding. As if that wasn't enough we ended our time
there with a family cruise to the Bahamas where we got to enjoy several
"Seuss at Sea" themed activities. It was the best family road trip we
have ever made and one that I do not think any of us will soon forget.
We have a full schedule of
speaking engagements lined up for the next few weeks. We are excited
about the opportunities we have to share.
October 8: Harmony Baptist Church evening service
October 9: FBC Meridian Associational WMU ladies luncheon
October 15: Gallman Baptist Church morning service and FBC Hazlehurst evening service
October 18: FBC Crystal Springs Wednesday night service
October 22: Shady Grove Baptist morning service
October 29: Highland Baptist Church morning service
Pray for us as we travel this month and share about our work in Guatemala.
Lastly, it has now been six weeks and three days
since the tree fell at the mission house where we were staying. We are
still patiently waiting for the repair work to be done so that we could
move back in. Would you join us in praying that it would happen soon?
