Cruz drew the days of creation
Our character trait to study for the week was on thankfulness. One of our activities was to draw something that we are thankful for. Cruz drew a crane and Ben drew friends. It blessed my heart to see that Ben drew his friend to look Guatemalan.
Ben is working his way through the alphabet. He had letter B this week. One of his activities is cutting magazine pictures of things that begin with the letter he is learning. So far he had cut blueberries, a baby boy, a butterfly, and a Bible book.
Here is Cruz doing an All About Spelling activity using pennies to segment words. He loves anything hands-on.
We had a really fun week in Science. We studied the wind. We learned about hurricanes and tornadoes. We made a tornado in a bottle for one of our activities.
ready to test our tornado in a bottle
They played with that bottle for the rest of the day.
Another activity was making windsocks.
ready to hang these in the wind
we went outside and licked our fingers to test which direction the wind was blowing
we threw grass and leaves into the air to see which way they would blow
they also dropped grass over the a/c condenser to watch it blow up into the air
We made a weather vane to test which way the wind blows. We also made a chart to record the wind direction and strength each day for the next week.

Our art lesson for the week was called "Artists Look". We were challenged to take a closer look at the world around us. We went on a nature walk to collect a few things to study and draw.

Art Week 3
Our history lessons were on Egypt. We had a great study on how the ancient Egyptians lived, hunted, dressed, what they ate, and what they believed. So far I am loving this curriculum on world cultures. It is very interesting to all of us.
Lastly, after a longer than expected break, Cruz started back with piano lessons last Friday. He will be taking lessons from our neighbor every Friday afternoon. We were able to borrow a keyboard for him to practice on. That was a great blessing. He is a little rusty but hopefully with a little regular practice he will be back up to speed in no time. Just hearing him play again makes my heart happy.
