I have always taken a picture of my boys sleeping on their birthday eve night. Here is Cruz on his last night as a six year old.
He was up at 5:30 on his birthday morning eager to get the celebration started.

notice that watch says 6:08 a.m.!
This is the theme he chose for his birthday this year. He initially was torn between wanting Star Wars or Hot Wheels as his theme. When I took him to the store to buy supplies he saw this and wanted it instead.

How can it be???
He wanted to spend his day at a waterslide park. We had a few different options to choose from but decided on going to Valle Dorado. It is about an hour away in the neighboring department of Zacapa. We left soon after breakfast and planned to be there until it closed. It had been a few years since we were last there. It was fun to return now that the boys are a little older. They had a blast! We all did.

thumbs up for a great birthday outing
Their most favorite thing of all was the lazy river. In between going down the slides and swimming in the pool they would always go back to this part and do it over and over again. I'd say the majority of their day was spent in the lazy river.
afternoon ice cream break at the waterpark
We returned home just in time for supper. We had pizza and then enjoyed birthday cake.

Happy birthday, Cruz!
A circus had arrived in town earlier that week and began setting up. Opening night was on Cruz's birthday. What perfect timing! Cruz loves the circus and getting to do that on his birthday was an extra special treat. This is the circus we like most because it has tigers.
a fun night at the circus
It had been a really fun day. When I tucked Cruz in bed that night he thanked me and said "mama, this has been the best day ever!" I smiled, kissed him, and slipped on out. My mission was accomplished.
