Greetings from Guatemala!
The hot season has officially arrived bringing with it daily
temperatures of over 100 degrees. It also means water shortages and
power outages. It is definitely not the easiest month to live here. On
top of that we are all battling head colds and chest congestion. Pray
that we will all get well and start feeling better soon.
We
had ten Bible studies in March. One of those was in the village of
Nenoja. Nenoja is a village about an hour hike up the mountain from
Nearar. We were able to take a mountain road up to the village instead
of hiking. There we had a Saturday morning home Bible study and then a
simple birthday party for the lady in the home. The family kindly
served us tamales and a fruit drink before we left. A group from the
Nearar Bible study went with us. They have been visiting in this
village most every Saturday to try to start a home Bible study. Would
you pray for this village and the one family of believers there? Pray
that our Nearar group would soon begin to see some fruit from their
visits.
The
construction on the new church building in Nearar is coming along
great. Thank you for praying for this project. Continue to pray for
the workers and especially for Rafael who is in charge of it all.
David
recently attended a pastor's meeting here in town. It was hosted by
Bro. Fito's church. Most of the pastors came from neighboring
departments. They began with a worship service and then had a time of
business and sharing. David was able to share about our role here and
how we might work together with them to reach new areas. Pray that we
would have more opportunities to encourage these pastors and partner
with them to help reach the lost and make disciples for Christ.
In
addition to our upcoming Bible study times this month we are looking
forward to a few times of celebration as well. April 16th is not only
Easter Sunday but will also be Ben's 5th birthday. He is counting down
the days to its arrival. David and I will celebrate our 21st wedding
anniversary on the 27th of this month. It is always one of my favorite
days of the year and I am counting down the days to it. We love special
occasions around here so I am in full planning mode trying to make sure
these times are extra fun.
As
always we appreciate your partnering with us through prayer. Those
prayers are what keep us going most of the time. Thank you for taking
the time to pray for us.
