Greetings from Guatemala!
Happy New Year everyone! We enjoyed a quiet little family Christmas
and New Year's celebration at our home in Chiquimula. December is our
slowest month of the year so it was nice to have a little extra rest and
family time together. We took two weeks off from homeschool and it was
a refreshing break. We are looking forward to getting things back up
and going this week.
David
has continued to lead Bible study in Nearar each Sunday. Several days
last month he went visiting with some of his Bible study group to some
neighboring areas. One morning they led Bible study in the village of
Enoja. Nearar is an hour drive from our house. From there it is a two
hour hike straight up the mountain to reach that village. While there
they met a man who is blind and carries a wooden cane around to fight
off the evil spirits that he says torments him day and night. Would you
pray for this man? What a terrible way to go through life.
We
also led two Bible studies in the village of Muyurco and attended a
service in Porto Suelo. We were excited about getting our Bible study
in the village of Lagunetas back going. We had 35 kids show up on our
first week back. That is the most we have ever had there. Praise the
Lord for all of these opportunities to share God's Word even on what we
considered a slow month. You can be praying for us this week as we have
three upcoming Bible study times planned. We will be in Muyurco on
Thursday, Lagunetas on Saturday, and Nearar next Sunday morning.
Our
first team of the year arrives later this month. We will be hosting a
group from First Baptist Church, Mount Pleasant, SC. They will be here
January 24-30 to work alongside us in the villages of Chanco and Corral
de Piedras. Would you please pray for a great week and for God's
blessings on us as we serve together?
We
have been encouraged to hear how many of your churches have exceeded
their goals for giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering this year.
How exciting! Thank you for giving to support missions. Because you
give, we can go. If you have not had an opportunity to give and would
like to it's not too late. You can click HERE to give online. 100% of your gift through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering supports missionaries and their work.
We
are excited about the new year and looking forward to seeing how the
Lord is going to work in our area this year. There is a lot of work to
be done and we covet your prayers as we do our part to share the Gospel
and make disciples.
